April 23, 2022

Teresa Eileen (Newmyer) Draves of Colorado Springs, our beloved daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, teacher, mentor, and friend went home to be with the Lord on March 20th, 2022 at Penrose Hospice in Colorado Springs after a brief battle with cancer resulting in renal failure. She was born on June 24th, 1968 in Del Norte, CO to H. Ray Newmyer and Catherine Rice-Gallegos. She was married on May 26th, 1991 to Randy Draves in Hooper, CO. Teresa received her B.A. from Adam State College in 1990 and her M.A. in Human Resources Management from Florida Institute of Technology in 2000. She was a Homemaker for most of her life and also worked as an Administrative Assistant, Medical Secretary, and Creative Memories Consultant at various points in time. She volunteered her time as a Navy Ombudsman at multiple commands and received several certificates of appreciation, as well as the Military Spouse Medal. She enjoyed scrapbooking in her free time and was known as the family historian. She also enjoyed Crossfit, sewing, and, in her younger years, horseback riding. She was characterized by her passion for teaching; leading countless Bible studies from 2004 until her death, with Precept upon Precept studies being her favorite format to teach. Most recently, she served as the Women’s Guidance Ministry Leader at Rocky Mountain Calvary. She volunteered her time as a teacher and administrative assistant at High Country Christian Academy in Colorado Springs. Teresa managed her household through several Navy deployments and moves and homeschooled both of her children, one from 4th grade to graduation and the other from preschool through graduation. She would say her greatest achievement was raising two children who are walking with the Lord and who are passing on the faith to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Randy Draves, children Miranda Mangum (Matthew) and Caleb Draves, grandchildren Jubilee Mangum, Malachi Mangum, Elora Mangum, and Zebulun Mangum, parents H. Ray Newmyer and Catherine Rice-Gallegos (Robert), siblings Cammie Newmyer, Daniel Newmyer (Kate), Crista Newmyer-Olsen (Sam), as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Remembrance Mangum (2017), and her niece Alexie Echo-hawk (2021). The memorial service will be April 1st at 1:30 PM at Rocky Mountain Calvary in Colorado Springs. Reception to follow the service. For more information, call Rocky Mountain Calvary’s front office at 719-597-1133. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Rocky Mountain Calvary’s Women’s Ministry.
As Teresa emphasized, always remember to hold fast to God and press on in the faith.
